Palakura chapathi ( Spinach roti)

Published by mythili at 7:13 am under Healthy Eating,Quick Cooking,Spinach,Vegetables

So I wanted to eat something green and healthy  and which had some grains. Also I wanted to make use of my new mortar and that’s how palakura chapathi was born.

I took 2 handfuls of spinach leaves and crushed them in the mortar and used this to mix the dough.

–ingredients———————————————————

Wheat Flour – 1.5 cups
Crushed spinach – 2 to 3 handfuls
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Salt – according to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp

–procedure————————————————-

The whole recipe is very simple. Mix all the ingredients together. Add water only if needed – the spinach is just about enough to turn into a nice dough for chapathis.  Cover the dough with  a wetcloth and keep it aside for 30 mins.

Take lemon sized balls of the dough and roll them flat with a thickness of 2-3 mm. Meanwhile heat a tawa (flat pan). Fry the flat breads on the tawa for 2 or 3 mins, both sides, occasionally using oil. Repeat the process for each ball. Serve hot with curd or any curry.
