L.A. Archdiocese Settles 45 Abuse Cases

LOS ANGELES — The nation’s largest Roman Catholic archdiocese said Friday it has agreed to pay $60 million to settle 45 lawsuits alleging sex abuse by priests. The deal is the most significant step to date toward resolving extensive litigation against the archdiocese that has dragged on for years.
“I pray that the settlement of the initial group of cases will help the victims involved to move forward with their lives and to build a brighter future for themselves and their families,” Cardinal Roger Mahony said in a news release.
Negotiations for the settlement of the uninsured cases have been in progress for at least a year.

Disgusting indeed. The covering up, violation of trust, everything. Human scum these people are.
These are bound to happen when people seek other “distinguished” people to mediate… they believe in God yet are so moronic to see all humans are equal !!
As a Catholic I am profoundly sad to hear this…it is horrible..but the teachings of Jesus are still valid because many servants have failed him does not mean that Catholicism is a bad religion. All religions have corrupt people. Even hinduism. Perhaps after the bad people are removed Catholicism will become more healthy, in the direction of the Syriac Orthodox Church which I believe it should emulate as it has less corruption in paedophilia.
